Following the success of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen and deli in Axminster, he has launched a second restaurant at Plymouth's Royal William Yard. The restaurant occupies a Grade I listed building formerly the victualling depot of the Royal Navy, built between 1826 and 1835. It has been developed by Urban Splash, the award winning regeneration company, featuring triple height ceilings and an outdoor terrace with spectacular water views.
The restaurant is headed by Joe Draper who sources the ingredients for his menu from some of the finest South West producers, with a strong emphasis on seasonal ingredients and a 'no compromise' attitude on quality and taste. The menu will change daily reflecting offerings from local fishermen and suppliers, but typical dishes could include Cornish mussels, cider, leeks and bacon followed by slow roast lamb's shoulder, lentils and salsa verde and finishing with vanilla yoghurt panna cotta, spiced dried plums and shortbread.
