Review on The Glasshouse at The Grove
The Glasshouse is one of three restaurants set within The Grove, a five-star hotel nestling in 300 acres of glorious Hertfordshire countryside, just 18 miles from central London. Originally the former home of the Earls of Clarendon, this luxurious hotel with its award winning Colette's restaurant, also boasts a championship golf course and the Sequoia Spa.
The Glasshouse is decked out in contemporary style with floor to ceiling windows affording views of the hotel's lovely gardens and duck pond. The atmosphere is lively and informal, where guests can watch the theatre of the open kitchen as chefs prepare British, Asian and Mediterranean dishes using traditional wood-fired ovens, woks, and rotisseries, which are then served buffet style. Typical offerings include roast rib of grain fed beef with Yorkshire puddings, salt baked halibut or maybe crispy Greek style pork and tzatziki. Among the desserts look for white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake or the Grove bread and butter pudding paired with vanilla sauce is a popular choice.
