Review on Coast Restaurant
The aptly named Coast Restaurant opened in April 2014, a new purpose built building in a beautiful Pembrokeshire cove, just steps away from the lovely golden sands of Coppet Hall. The restaurant is the brainchild of Swansea-born Neil Kedward and his partner Zoe Agar, who already own the award winning restaurant and boutique hotel, The Grove in Narbeth. Coast occupies an eco-friendly building with the interiors kitted out in a contemporary style of neutral colours, enlivened by turquoise cushions and pretty pots of plants on the bare wood tables. Floor to ceiling windows look out on to the decked terrace and the panoramic views of the magnificent coastline beyond.
The kitchen makes excellent use of the region's lavish natural larder, brimming with the freshest seafood and award-winning butchery, as displayed on their website. On offer you might choose the griddled squid, pink grapefruit and shaved fennel or pork rillettes, raisin, apple and hazelnut salad amongst the starters. When it comes to main courses, on the meat front there's 28 day, dry aged Welsh beef rib eye, chargrilled and served with peppercorn butter, onion rings, triple cooked chips and watercress, while fish shows up in the shape of line-caught sea bass fillet, creamed leeks and vanilla. Close the show with a dessert of dark chocolate torte, cherries, lemon curd and amaretti biscuit or sticky ginger pudding, marinated pineapple and mango cream.
There's a carefully crafted wine list to complement the menu, with ample choice from all the major wine-making countries.
