Review on Brasserie at the Bull
The Brasserie at the Bull is located in a handsome building in the heart of the minister town of Halifax in West Yorkshire. Set over two floors with a ground floor bar and eating area, the main dining room is located on the first level. The restaurant is decorated with a modern contemporary décor offering a choice of smart well-spaced wood tables and chairs or cosy booths with banquette seating, pretty chandeliers illuminate the ceiling and a large tank of tropical fish add to the relaxed vibe.
The kitchen brigade are passionate about local produce and take great pride in sourcing the finest, freshest ingredients for their dishes, with bread and pastries baked in-house daily. Open the slate with crispy belly pork paired with Asian rice noodles or king scallops, Thai crab salad, with green coconut dressing. Main courses offer choices such as slow braised lamb shoulder, creamed potato, Rioja and chorizo or from the sea there's poached smoked haddock, wilted spinach mash, poached duck egg and hollandaise sauce. While desserts run the gamut from blueberry crème brulee served with Elderflower shortbread to treacle tart, with vanilla ice cream and spiced syrup.
Service comes with a smile and there's a wine list that's sure to suit all tastes, together with quality imported lagers, traditional hand-pulled ales and cocktails.
