Review on Gaucho - Leeds
The Leeds branch of the well regarded Gaucho chain is located in the centre of the city's legal and banking district on Park row, a short walk from Leeds Station. Descend the staircase to the subterranean venue, a glamorous and sleek affair with glittering crystal chandeliers, decked out in luxurious black and leather, with walls and chairs covered with furry cow print.
Prime Argentinean steaks, aged for four to six weeks, cut to order then flash-grilled are the main attraction, served with a choice of peppercorn, bearnaise, mushroom or smoked garlic hollandaise sauce, plus appropriate side orders. Starters feature salads and ceviches aplenty, the Ecuadorian version consists of shrimp, roasted tomato and pepper sauce, onion and coriander or maybe choose the pan fried scallops, watercress purée, smoked pancetta and confit red peppers. When it comes to desserts there's passion fruit cheesecake, shaved pineapple and goji berries or white chocolate and sour cream pannacotta, cherries, strawberries and lemon coriander. To accompany the menu there are fines wines from Argentina's major wine producers, together with traditional grappa and zingy cocktails.
