Review on Aqua
Aqua is a Mediterranean Meze bar and grill located on South End in the large town of Croydon, with siblings in Banstead, Surrey, Bromley and Blackheath in Kent. The smart glass double frontage building has an equally inviting contemporary interior, walls are lined with leather banquette seating and dark wood tables are set on modern wood flooring. The brasserie is the brainchild of Dasos Charalambous and Dario Nardo, who have both trained and worked in some of London's top hotels.
First class seasonal ingredients are used in dishes that are simple in concept but executed with competence. The wide ranging menu showcases a crowd-pleasing choice of dishes such as filo pastry parcels, oven baked, filled with spinach and feta cheese, served with tomato and basil coulis or Cornish crab salad with green beans, red onions, endive, keta caviar and herb crostini. When it comes to main courses there's medallions of beef, buttered spinach, creamy mash and Diane sauce cooked on their bespoke charcoal grill, or from the sea choose pan fried sea bass served with crushed new potato, asparagus, tomato and red onion salsa. Other options worth considering are there selection of pastas and risottos or their popular meze platters. When it comes to desserts you could opt for a traditional Greek selection of baklavas, or a traditional English sticky date and toffee pudding with vanilla pod ice cream.
The wine list offers plenty of choice in terms of taste and budget as well as options by the glass.
