Review on Vinoteca Chiswick
Leafy Devonshire Road in Chiswick saw the fourth opening of Vinoteca, the critically acclaimed wine bar, shop and restaurant which also has offshoots in Farringdon, Marylebone and Soho. Set in a mid-terrace 3-storey Victorian property, the interiors have been created by Cantor Masters with dark wood tables on oak wood flooring and lime green banquette seating with an impressive wall display of wine situated above it.
Taking helm of the kitchen is James Robson whose resumé includes restaurants such as the River Café, The Wapping Project as well as Chef Patron of L'Office in Paris. Menus change daily using top quality ingredients, with cured meats and their excellent bavette steak sourced directly from Jabugo in Spain. Opt for a starter of half a partridge, pearl barley and crisp speck before a main course of Diver caught plaice, Umbrian lentils and Essex mussels or grilled Elwy lamb leg, heritage cauliflower and salsa verde. Desserts might run to pannacotta, grilled Braeburn apple and grappa or semifreddo and salted caramel.
The wine list is a majestic 285-tome knowledgeably garnered from all corners of the world, with an ever-changing offering of 25 wines available by the glass.
