Review on Honey & Co
Honey & Co serving Middle Eastern cuisine is a diminutive restaurant seating just 20 covers, that has caught the attention of both critics and foodies alike. It's window display of delicious cakes and pastries tempts passers-by, while the interior is simply decorated with a pretty white and blue Moorish tiled floor, whitewashed walls are lined with homemade products you can buy, such as preserved lemons and bottles of rosewater. It is owned by Israeli husband and wife team Itamar Srulovich, who was the former Head Chef at Ottolenghi, while Sarit, trained at the Orrery under Chris Galvin and more recently was both head of pastry at Ottolenghi and executive chef at Nopi.
Dishes hit the button with their vibrant flavours, kicking off with their delicious mezze consisting of a selection of bread with olive oil, homemade pickles, kalamata olives, burnt aubergine bourekka, creamy hummus, corn on the cob with walnut muhamra, falafel with garlic yogurt, aubergine and tomato salad with tahini. When it comes to main courses there's much to enjoy in the shape of slow cooked lamb shoulder in plums and roses, served with bulgar pilaf or roasted sardines stuffed with orange and thyme, with dattarino tomatoes, pinenuts and grapes.
