Review on Osteria Tufo
Occupying a smart corner site, Osteria Tufo is a gem of a neighbourhood restaurant a short walk from Park Theatre and Finsbury Park Station. Owned by Paolo and Morris, an Italian couple who have over 20 years of experience working in London restaurants such as Carluccio's, Osteria Litro and La Divina, this is their first solo venture. Situated on a quiet residential street with a smart black and white frontage with huge arched picture windows, the interior is an intimate affair, with tables laid simply with brown paper, set on chequerboard tiled flooring. During summer months there's a small patio at the front of the restaurant for al fresco dining.
Billing itself as "A Taste of Italy" menus change daily, reflecting the freshest seasonal and market produce, with their popular white and black ink pasta made in house. Opt for a starter of Cozze e Vongole, mussels and clams in white wine, cherry tomato, garlic, rosemary and parsley before a main course of Fegato burro e Salvia, calves liver pan fried with butter and sage. Typical traditional desserts close the show with panna cotta served with chocolate sauce, or tiramisu.
There is a well thought out wine list to accompany the dishes and service is friendly and warm with a personal touch.
