Review on The Ivy Chelsea Garden

Just four months after the successful launch of the The Ivy Market Grill in Covent Garden, Richard Caring of Caprice Holdings unveiled The Ivy Chelsea Garden, located on the trendy King's Road in Chelsea. Set on the former Henry J Bean site, a Grade II listed building dating back to the 18th century, there's a café, bar lounge and restaurant, with the pièce de resistance in the stunning outdoor terrace. Designed by Anthony Challis and Dan Curran of Ginkgo Gardens it features stone-clad water fountains and pergolas covered with wisteria and climbing roses.

Victorian inspired interiors have been created by the renowned Swedish designer Martin Brudnizki, with a theatrical antique steel and pewter bar taking centre stage. Its a sleek affair with crackle-glazed tiled panelling running throughout the café in shades of green, orange and teal and walls adorned with botanical illustrations of oranges, paying homage to an orangery that occupied this spot in the 1700s.

This is an all-day venue par excellence, providing breakfast, lunches, afternoon teas, an extensive main menu, as well as weekend brunch as part of its package, devised by Executive Chef Sean Burbidge. Potted shrimps are served with Melba toast and pickled cucumber or maybe opt for the crispy warm duck salad with five spice dressing on pak choi, beansprout and ginger salad amongst the starters. Follow on with lobster rigatoni bake, chopped lobster rigatoni with Amalfi lemon and courgettes or a herb crusted rack of lamb with fondant potato, minted sugar snaps and lamb jus. Chocolate lovers will enjoy the chocolate bombe, melting chocolate bombe with milk foam, vanilla ice cream and honeycomb centre with hot salted caramel sauce or there's a dark treacle tart paired with clotted cream ice cream and Jersey pouring cream.

The wine list is a wide-ranging slate and there's also signature cocktails and herbal liqueurs on offer.
