Review on Harry's Bar
Harry's Bar situated on the narrow Ironmonger Lane, just off Cheapside is one of two Central London bars and restaurants, a popular venue for City businessmen. Spread over two floors with a funky downstairs bar featuring an ever-changing coloured luminescent light system and the DJ playing upbeat music ensures that the atmosphere is lively. The dining area is done out in a neutral palette with large brown curved banquette seating and contemporary pictures on the walls.
The kitchen delivers a raft of modern European dishes kicking off with seared sea scallops with smoked tomato butter sauce, mango and spinach petals or from the land opt for grilled beef salad with heirloom tomatoes, avocado, and shallot and horseradish crème fraiche dressing. Moving on there's smoked salmon linguini with prawns, baby spinach and dill volute cream or for meat lovers there's a Scottish rib eye steak served with either creamy mash, sweet potatoes or hand-cut chips and a choice of parsley butter, peppercorn or béarnaise sauce. To finish desserts offer a traditional treacle pudding with English custard or a tropical Eton Mess cheesecake with mango, passion fruit, pineapple and coconut. Harry's Bar also has an extensive light bites menu with nibbles, sandwiches and dishes in the shape of chicken liver parfait with port jelly, grape chutney and brioche.
The well-chosen wine list hits the target with a good selection of champagnes and wines from all of the major wine-making countries, together with a diverse cocktail list.
