Review on Zest @ JW3
Zest is a restaurant, café and bar on the ground floor of JW3 which is the Jewish Community Centre in London, an educational facility and a social and community hub on the Finchley Road in North West London. Occupying a building that once housed a Mercedes car dealership, it's a large and airy space with a magnificent 15 metres wide bar designed by Cantilever Bars, one of the UK's most innovative bar specialists, dividing the restaurant area from the café. Huge floor to ceiling windows open out onto a courtyard, which is very popular during summer months. Well spaced tables are set with candles and there's an open to view kitchen where diners can watch all the action of the chefs at work.
Serving modern Jewish cuisine in a relaxed and friendly ambience, diners can expect dishes such as Persian spiced freekah risotto, charmula roast baby aubergine and feta or miso glazed sea bass, baby fennel, wasabi, black moule, radish and micro shiso amongst the starters. Main courses embrace Red Snapper, harissa, lemongrass, pak choi, samphire, cavolo nero, burnt noodles and mushroom consommé or baby aubergine and pumpkin salad, quinoa, edamame beans, pomegranate, mint and lemon. To finish there could be sticky date pudding with cardamom cream or a dark salted chocolate torte.
