Review on Asha's Manchester
Asha's has established itself as an international award winning group of Indian restaurants, with a well regarded outpost in Birmingham, it has opened a further UK branch in Manchester. Founded by famous Bollywood singer Asha Bhosie, also an accomplished chef, the new restaurant occupies the former premises of the Baby Grand Bar on Peter Street, opposite the old Theatre Royal. An elegant Victorian building set over two floors, it has undergone a striking two million pound refurbishment transforming it into a stunning and glitzy venue, featuring a ground floor cocktail bar and a first floor restaurant.
Alongside classic curries such as gosht or duck vindaloo cooked with baby potatoes in spicy onion and tomato gravy spiked with vinegar, there's something different in the shape of their Emperor's platter, whole tandoori lobster in its shell, chilli garlic king prawns, barrah, seafood seekh, murg malai and tandoori murg tikka kebabs, perfect for sharing.
There's a concise wine list to accompany the food as well as signature cocktails such as Asha's Punch, Bacardi Fuego, cognac, honey mead, cherry wine, osmanthus flower tea, citrus and house grenadine finished with champagne.
