Review on NEO Restaurant
Occupying a striking rotunda building that has been vacant for 10 years due to a boundary dispute, NEO Restaurant is situated next to the Hermitage Hotel in the heart of the popular coastal resort of Bournemouth. Spread out over two floors with a ground floor lounge bar serving cocktails and a chic upstairs dining room with lovely views of the sea and Bournemouth Gardens. It is a smart and fitting setting for chef Kevin Viner, who held a Michelin star for seven years at his restaurant Pennypots in Blackwater Cornwall.
The restaurant opens its doors for breakfast and follows on with an all-day menu serving brasserie styles dishes using carefully sourced ingredients. So expect chilli crab cakes, mango, yuzu and sesame dressing decorated with edible flowers or from the land there's confit duck, foie gras served with toasted foaccia and beetroot relish. Main courses usher in Boston butt, sticky smoked barbecue pork cooking on the Josper grill or for those who prefer fish there's whole lemon sole, brown shrimp and caper butter, ratte potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Completing the picture are desserts such as pear and almond tart, granola, yogurt, Chantilly cream, honey, sweetened mascarpone, pear and elderflower compote or a lemon and lime cheesecake, mango, pineapple and salsa.
