Review on De Tokio a Lima Restaurant
De Tokio a Lima is the showpiece restaurant situated in the boutique hotel Can Alomar, occupying a prime spot in Palma on the corner of Passeig del Born boulevard and Sant Feliu. A former 19th century palace and a listed building, the restaurant is located on the ground floor of the the hotel with two terraces offering stunning views over the city.
The kitchen uses fresh local ingredients for a cuisine that presents a fusion of Japanese, Peruvian and Mediterranean cooking, known internationally as Nikkei. The restaurant offers a wide range of culinary delights in the shape of wild mushroom cream with grilled scallop and miso or a terrine of foie gras with seasonal fruit and balsamic jelly amongst the starters. Main courses also provide ample choice with fish and seafood ceviche marinated with tamarillo fruit and citrus or if seafood isn't your thing, you could opt for the rack of lamb, black Thai rice with curcuma and coconut sauce. As a finale, consider caramel banana with cinnamon cream, coffee and toasted almonds which could be paired with a 12 year old Japanese whisky Yamazaki or there's chocolate fondant with cardamom and vanilla ice cream.
The wine list offers a good spread of local and imported wines with options available by the glass, and there's also an interesting cocktail menu.
