Review on Iberica Glasgow
The first Scottish branch of the critically acclaimed Spanish restaurant group Iberica opened in the city of Glasgow in September 2016. Located on the corner of St Vincent Street and Hope Street, it occupies a handsome historic building that was formerly an old Victorian bank. Like its siblings the interiors have been given a stylish makeover by renowned Spanish designer Lázaro Rosa Violán, who has created a modern design that pays homage to the traditional Galican heritage shared by Northern Spain and Scotland. A lovely marble bar provides extra seating as well as the enticing delicatessen counter, where you can enjoy their famous hand-carved Jamon Iberico.
Three-starred Michelin chef Nacho Manzano has produced a regularly changing menu of traditional classic Spanish dishes alongside innovative signature dishes. From the sea enjoy fresh mackerel with roast potatoes in a clam and garlic sauce served with parsley and seaweed emulsion or from the land there's beef cheek carpaccio, cooked and finely sliced with truffle potato purée, sweet potato crisps and tartare sauce. Main courses pick up on Angus Black Label confit short rib with mojo verde or fish fans might opt for the freshly prepared seafood paellas, serving two they are made to order and require forty minutes to prepare. For a sweet finale there's a signature dessert of caramelised Spanish rice pudding or a Gloria cheesecake paired with parmesan and dried strawberries.
Iberica has an extensive all-Spanish wine list sourced from some of Spain's finest artisan producers including beers and sherries, alongside sangria and signature cocktails.
