Review on Roba Bar & Restaurant
Taking its name from the kitchen's signature robato grill, the Roba Bar & Restaurant is set within the boutique Victorian Norfolk Towers Hotel, just minutes from Paddington Station. The award-winning interior designers Tibbat's Abel, who were responsible for the décor of the iconic Buddha Bar in Knightsbridge have created an inviting and relaxed venue in contemporary style, with custom-designed features including copper elements.
Andrea Secchi is the chef leading the kitchen having previous earned his culinary spurs in acclaimed kitchens such as Marcus Wareing at the Berkeley and Tredwell's in Covent Garden. Menus change with the seasons ensuring that the very finest produce is used in the preparation of dishes. The evening set menu is of particular good value with starters such as smoked salmon, wild asparagus and seaweed tartare or chicken wings served with spicy barbecue dip. Follow on with poached cod, sweet potatoes mush truffle and parsley dressing or away from the sea there's the ultimate beef burger, smoke cheese, bacon, brioche buns, coleslaw and chips. Desserts appear in the shape of cinnamon and lavender pannacotta or a dark chocolate cylinder, salted caramel mousse.
The menu is complemented by a well-balanced wine list as well as signature cocktails such as The Roba, crushed fruit, Jägermeister, crème de fraise syrup and ginger beer.
