Review on José Pizarro The Swan Inn
Set in an handsome 1905 building overlooking the common, The Swan Inn is situated in the lovely Surrey countryside on the outskirts of Esher, just a few minutes drive from major attractions such as Sandown Racecourse, Hampton Court and Chessington World of Adventures. Following the departure of Michelin-starred chef Claude Bosi, the restaurant has now become the domain of acclaimed Spanish chef José Pizarro and joins his three other siblings, with two located in Bermondsey and one at Broadgate Circle. Light and airy it has an elegant setting with smart furnishings, where you can chill out in the convivial bar area with a drink, take a leisurely meal in the dining room, or in warm weather enjoy al fresco pleasures on their large terrace.
José will be serving authentic Spanish classics using the finest Spanish ingredients alongside locally sourced produce. Among the small plates look for dishes along the lines of spicy prawns fritters, lemon allioli or hot chorizo, Rioja wine and membrillo. Moving on to the big plate section of the menu there's 100% acorn fed Ibérico pork or for seafood fans Estrella fish and chips, tartar sauce, English peas and fries. For a sweet-toothed finale enjoy crema cítrica, citrus posset, with blood orange and lemon crumble or a Spanish cheese selection served with Spanish membrillo and picos.
To accompany the tapas there's a wide selection of British real ales, draught beers including Estrellas Damm, as well as Spanish, English and European wines.
