Review on Argos Restaurant
Awarded a Michelin star in November 2016, the Argos is the showpiece restaurant set on the ground floor of the renovated boutique La Goleta Hotel de Mar, which opened in the heart of Pollença in June 2015. The contemporary restaurant has a Scandinavian vibe with pale furniture and a minimalist décor, with touches of blue and white to reflect its seaside location. Located on a prime spot on a pedestrianised street, full length windows open out onto a terrace for al fresco dining, affording views of the beautiful beach and bay.
Holding sway in the kitchen is Álvaro Salazar who is the youngest chef in Mallorca to have been awarded a prestigious Michelin star, the hallmark of the quality of the fine food he creates in his elegantly displayed dishes. Lift anchor with a starter of octopus, roasted tomato, black garlic-potato emulsion and wheat beer before a main course of suckling pig cooked at 63 degrees, dried apricots, ginger and carob tree fruit. For those who prefer fish, choose the red mullet in puffed potatoes, stew, red miso and caramelized pine nuts. Proceedings conclude in style with desserts such as Sexy, lychee, vanilla, roses and red fruit or The Sweet Sea, passion fruit star, cocoa crumble and chocolate ice cream.
Argos has a carefully chosen wine list of some 100 references, mostly from the islands, but there is also a significant international presence.
