Review on Hotel & Restaurant Forn Nou
Toni Miquel Amorós and Nicole Bundi's hotel and restaurant Forn Nou has been a family owned property for four generations, originally built by Toni's great grand-father as a bakery in 1929. The hotel is situated in the lovely rural town of Artá in the northeast of Mallorca, at the foot of the nature park Llevant.
The restaurant was opened in 2012 and is regarded as one of the best in the village, serving modern Mediterranean cuisine using fresh locally sourced produce. The basement dining room features the baker's oven, a wall of wine and a chef's table seating 14, where you can watch all the action in the kitchen. The main dining room on the ground floor has an elegant décor with contemporary artwork on the walls. They also have al fresco dining on their rooftop terrace with beautiful views over the village, the castle of Sant Salvador and the bay of Canyamel.
Typical offerings on the carte include fish soup with noodles, as well as foie gras with onion and orange chutney. Elsewhere there's spicy red tuna with algae salad and their signature cooked meats from the wood-fired oven. To accompany the food there's a reasonably priced wine list.
