Review on The Wine Side
The Wine Side is a family owned and run gastrobar serving some of the best tapas in the town of Port d'Alcudia in North East Mallorca. It's a small venue, simply decorated with a bicycle hanging above wooden shelves filled with wine bottles, a few tables inside and some more on their front terrace.
Owner Toni Cabanellas is passionate about sourcing the freshest produce, sustainable where possible for the food his mother cooks in the kitchen and he has built up a trusted network of local suppliers. The menu changes regularly according to the very best daily ingredients with seafood showing up strongly. Dishes are designed for sharing along the lines of fried squid ring Andalusian style with aioli and cod carpaccio with rocket salad. Non-piscine alternatives include duck salad with foie and baby lamb chops from Burgos and to finish who could resist their selection of chocolates.
Wine is supplied from Catavinos in Palma who are distributors for over 140 of the best wineries worldwide. There's a good selection available by the glass using the Coravin Wine system to ensure optimum freshness.
