Review on Broadleaf
Broadleaf is the latest and 14th venue to be launched from the ever expanding privately-owned ETM Group, located next to Tower 42 in Old Broad Street, accessible via Bishopsgate, it's just a short walk from Liverpool Street Station.
Laid out over two floors with a modern, full length glass frontage, the 500 square metre venue has been designed by Russell Sage Studio taking inspiration from Victorian tropical glasshouses. There's a ground floor statement bar with six copper beer tanks, counter seating and cosy leather banquette booths, botanical themed walls and tropical taxidermy, overlooked by a large open plan theatre kitchen. An upstairs lounge features shuffleboard tables, two large plasma TV's which will showcase sporting fixtures and other events such as live music and cocktail masterclasses. During summer months their terrace will come into its own for al fresco dining and drinking.
The crowd-pleasing menu is based around carefully chosen ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers, kicking off with starters such as kiln roast salmon, sweet and sour beetroot and horseradish crème fraîche or duck liver parfait paired with spiced cranberry jelly and toasted brioche. Follow on with a choice of salads, rare breed Cumbrian steaks, burgers, the pie of the day or maybe Devon crab linguini, chilli and wild garlic might be more to your fancy. Desserts rack up the comfort factor, witness sticky toffee pudding served with cornflake ice cream or cranberry and almond Bakewell tart and salted caramel ice cream.
Broadleaf has a comprehensive selection of wines, artisan spirits, craft beers and signature botanical cocktails.
