Review on Shikumen Ealing
The Ealing venue of Shikumen, a small collection of upmarket Chinese restaurants is set on the ground floor of the chic Hotel Xanadu, just off Ealing Broadway and next to Walpole Park. Floor to ceiling windows bath the contemporary dining room with natural light, it has a minimalist design with smart black tables on stone flooring and traditional Chinese ornaments decorating the walls.
Known for its excellent handmade dim sum and well executed traditional Chinese dishes, ingredients are carefully selected from the finest British produce together with Chinese saucing, garnish and taste. Their signature dish is authentic Beijing Peking duck which is carved at the table and served with handmade pancakes and Chinese buns. The carte also has its share of seafood witness baked Chilean seabass in Champagne sauce or stir fried scallop with asparagus and XO sauce. As a finale consider the green tea crème brûlée or maybe the lychee cheesecake.
There's a carefully chosen wine list to complement the food, together with Chinese tea, cocktails and saké.
