Situated on Pinner High Street, the frontage of this 400-year-old Grade II-listed beamed cottage is festooned with window boxes and greenery, and inside, Friends Restaurant has been given a stylish makeover. A log fire burns in the grate and the two dining rooms are neatly done out in classy contemporary style with colourful floral displays and high-back leather chairs.
Menus change with the seasons and inspiration comes from far and wide. For openers, there might be saffron risotto with crayfish and Parmesan or red onion and goats' cheese tart with tapenade dressing, while main courses could range from breast of guinea fowl with yellow pepper coulis and paprika mash to calf's liver with Cassis and caramelised onions.
To finish, look out for the show-stopping dark chocolate ravioli filled with orange and milk chocolate ganache or try something more exotic like coconut pannacotta with pineapple crisps. The wine list offers the pick of classic French grape varieties alongside rising stars from the New World.
