Mr Sa-ard Kriangsak and his wife originally set up Talad Thai in 1989: back then, it was a supermarket with some space at the back where cookery classes were held. Today, the supermarket is still thriving - although the set up now revolves around a fully fledged restaurant spread over two floors.
The menu has some unusual items, including 'talay hot' (mixed seafood in a blistering hot jungle curry paste) and 'little lamb lost in the wilderness' (a cute title for an aromatic stir-fry with Kaffir lime peel and crispy krachai). Elsewhere, there are plenty of palate-teasers in the shape of crispy catfish with green mango salad and marinated duck breast with peppercorns and rice wine sauce, as well as a full quota of soups, curries and noodles.
