Review on Redworth Hall Hotel, Restaurant 1744
Set in 25 acres of grounds in lovely countryside, this historic mansion can trace its history back to Elizabethan times, although most of the current building is Georgian. The magnificent Great Hall is a showpiece and the interior is awash with sumptuous ornate staircases and lavishly decorated lounges.
On the food front, most attention focuses on the intimate Restaurant 1744, where diners are treated to modern dishes along the lines of beetroot and lemon leaf soup with coriander crème fraîche or seafood mosaic with herb oil and balsamic reduction might precede sea bass with Mediterranean chickpea broth and couscous or pork loin with apple black pudding and potato pavé. Steaks are served from the grill, and desserts might run to pear and almond tart or strawberry Champagne terrine.
