It's all change at the restaurant once known as Fish Hook, the name has been altered to Restaurant Michael Nadra and the place has taken on a brand new identity, all thanks to new chef/proprietor Michael Nadra.
His CV reads like a tour of the London gastro-scene taking in such heavyweights as Pétrus, Chez Bruce, La Trompette and – most recently – The Ebury. As the restaurant's new name implies, the South African influence has gone, but seafood is still the main event on Nadra's exciting contemporary menus.
Supplies come from far and wide, so you can expect anything from Glenarm organic salmon (served with steamed mussels, ginger and Chinese broccoli) to butter fish – which might appear with chorizo, ratte potatoes and gremolata. Elsewhere, expect anything from baked wild turbot with a herb crust, fondue of root vegetables and a planchada bean salad to whole grilled lobster with buttered saffron noodles and bisque sauce.
A couple of meat dishes are offered for good measure (perhaps Aberdeen Angus ribeye steak with bone marrow, cocotte potatoes and red wine jus) and the wine list offers plenty of decent drinking at fair prices.
