Review on Archiestown Hotel

A striking building occupying the village square in Archiestown, this traditional hotel is warm and comfortable; a log fire burns in the sitting room where you can lose an hour or two browsing the huge book collection.

The place gains much of its reputation from the cuisine where bistro-style cooking is order of the day. Local meat and game is used, and the superb fish, lobsters, scallops, langoustines and other shellfish are complimented by herbs and fruits from the garden, homemade bread, pasta, puddings and ice cream.

The wine list makes for enticing reading, with plenty of good stuff from around the globe and some additional fines wines, mainly from Bordeaux.
