Review on Miramar de Alcudia
Founded in 1871 as a tavern and then becoming an hotel, the current incarnation of Miramar de Alcudia as a fashionable restaurant started in the 1980s. On the waterfront overlooking the harbour, the place is a no-frills showcase for seafood from the local fishermen as well as from Galicia on the mainland.
There's a no-nonsense generosity and lack of pretence about the food: Panfried octopus, Mallorcan prawns or razor clams, paellas and other rice dishes, Galician beef sirloin, seafood platter or traditional lobster casserole (caldereta).
The innovative wine list is several notches above the norm and runs to about 90 Spanish wines.
