Review on The Ballymore Inn
Barry and Georgina O'Sullivan's gem of a pub has been wowing the crowds for more than a decade with its great atmosphere and crusading commitment to Irish produce. The neat cream and blue frontage opens out into a vast space, with a cafι/brasserie area at the front and a huge open-plan 'back bar' beyond, festooned with vibrant modern artwork.
The kitchen is famed for its pizzas, which are baked in a special oven and given no-nonsense toppings like tomato, fresh Mozzarella, pepperoni and chilli oil. Elsewhere, there are top-notch steaks, rack of new season's Slaney lamb with spinach, Puy lentils and salsa verde, and Margaret McDonnell's organically reared chicken with mango and lime sauce.
Express lunches are a big attraction, and the place has an admirable drinks selection including a user-friendly wine list with plenty of options by the carafe or glass.
