Review on Haigs Hotel, McKee's Brasserie
Handily placed within striking distance of the Midlands motorway network and the NEC, this privately run, half-timbered hotel naturally draws much of its custom, from the business community, but still exudes a personal 'family' atmosphere.
Typical dishes from the regularly changing menu in McKee's Brasserie (formerly Isobels Restaurant) might include Berkswell cheese with poached pear and rocket or seafood chowder, ahead of roast rack of lamb with rosemary sauce or pan-fried sea bass with coriander and lemon dressing. Desserts could range from a trio of chocolate to nougat glacé with orange and Grand Marnier sauce, while the wine list provides a good spread of bottles from around the globe.
