Review on O'Grady's on the Pier
Michael O'Grady's self-styled 'oyster and seafood bar' couldn't be better situated, within sight of the boats bobbing in the harbour; the beach is not far away and there are views of the mountains in the distance. Eat outside and enjoy the sights when the weather allows, or relax in the cosy atmosphere of the traditional dining room.
Seafood cookery of the old school forms the backbone of the kitchen's culinary efforts, and the menu is peppered with classic ideas ranging from crab bisque and prawn cocktail to smoked salmon salad and shellfish platters. For something rather more inventive, check out the specials board, which might list anything from scallops with sun-dried tomato champ and saffron rice to grilled blue shark with herbed potato cake and sweet chilli beurre blanc.
Those who don't fancy fish could opt for Caesar salad with tandoori chicken or roast duck breast with red wine gravy, while desserts are old faithfuls such as profiteroles and banoffi pie.
