Review on Hudson Bar & Grill

A vibrant razzmatazz conversion of an old Edwardian pub in the buzzy centre of Bath, the Hudson combines the virtues of a steakhouse and grill with a lively cocktail bar. Stay downstairs if drinking is on your mind, otherwise head up to the stylishly decorated restaurant where grilled meat and seafood is the main attraction.

Steaks come from assured, grass-fed herds of Angus and Limousin beasts, reared in Staffordshire and slow-matured for 28 days. Choose from thick-cut prime rump, super-marbled rib-eye, porterhouse and other cuts, which are served with béarnaise, red wine glaze and shoestring fries - plus any side order you fancy (from twice-baked jacket potatoes to rocket and Parmesan salad).

There are also Hudson 'classics' ranging from slow-roast Chew Valley pork belly with honey and five-spice glaze to toasted hazelnut risotto cakes with stuffed courgette and grilled asparagus. Start with jumbo shrimp Martini or tempura tiger prawns and finish with chocolate fondue.
