Review on Blue Bell Hotel
Standing in Belford town square, this 250-year-old privately run hotel is justly proud of its history and reputation for comfort and hospitality.
Formal meals are served in the aptly named Garden Restaurant with windows overlooking the grounds and the nearby church. Straightforward modern British cooking is the order of the day, with menus promising the likes of grilled goats' cheese with apricot marmalade, fillet of beef with asparagus and pesto or roast leg of lamb with couscous salad, then saffron-poached pear with peach water ice.
For something more informal, try the Belford Tavern where the menu offers things like smoked chicken and pesto salad, pheasant casserole and chocolate mousse.
