Review on Il Pampero at The Hari Hotel
Formerly a seafood restaurant called Pont St, the boutique Hari Hotel situated in the heart of Belgravia replaced it with a chic new Italian venue, Il Pampero. The interiors have been created by acclaimed British designer Tara Bernerd with a central bar and counter seating, crisp linen laid tables are set on geometric patterned flooring, and walls are decorated with an interesting collection of artwork from celebrated British artists.
Donning the whites in the kitchen is former Novikov and Locanda Locatelli chef Claudio Covino, who showcases traditional Italian dishes along the lines of carpaccio di capesante, King scallop carpaccio with avocado mousse and root vegetable chips or beef carpaccio served with a fresh truffle, grana cheese and rocket salad amongst the starters. Main courses usher in home-made pasta in the shape of black ink ravioli filled with a cod mousse and served with a tomato and cured mullet roe sauce or for meat fans there's roast crown and braised leg of red-legged partridge paired with chestnut and barley risotto. Desserts stay close to home with yogurt parfait with limoncello jelly or tiramisù, chef style.
Italian varietals dominate the wine list, there's nice a selection available by the glass and if you want to splash the cash, check out their Wine Cellar section.
