Review on Stepping Stones Restaurant
Handily placed right opposite the airport and the local post office, Stepping Stones provides some of the most dependable food on Benbecula (the ancient 'stepping stone' between North and South Uist).
It's a purpose-built, bright modern place, with lots of pine furniture and big picture windows creating a light, airy feel. On the ground floor is the Food Base, an informal daytime café for snacks and light meals. For full evening meals, head upstairs to the friendly Sinteag restaurant, where you can get things like a brochette of king scallops with bacon and tomatoes or pan-fried local lamb with onions, mushrooms and rosemary.
The Maclean brothers also run Benbecula's bakery, so you can expect a good line in breads, pastries and so on to go with your meal.
