Review on La Toscana
Sister restaurant to La Vista in Chelmsford, La Toscana is overseen by friendly owners Antonio and Suzanne Viscariello, who have injected some Tuscan warmth into Billericay. The restaurant is stylishly done out with pale green walls, potted palms and a lovely decked terrace for alfresco meals. It's convivial, unostentatious and highly regarded locally.
The kitchen delivers a raft of well-tried trattoria favourites including prosciutto with Mozzarella, pappardelle with wild mushrooms in cream sauce, and calf's liver in butter with char-grilled pancetta, but also branches out for smoked swordfish with vine tomatoes, rocket and Parmesan, linguine with fresh crab and chilli, and breast of chicken topped with goats' cheese and pesto sauce.
To finish, there are ample, mouthwatering desserts including tiramisu and pannacotta alongside chocolate nemesis and Baileys crème brûlée. The well-spread wine list has a generous assortment by the glass.
