Review on Blue Mango
One of the new breed of contemporary Indian restaurants springing up in central Birmingham, Blue Mango is right at the fashionable heart of things in the upmarket Regency Wharf development. Inside, it looks like a chic, big-city brasserie with its swathes of glass and steel, contemporary furnishings and luxuriant greenery, and the menu promises a lot more than the standard curry house offerings.
House specials make interesting reading, and there's more than a whiff of crossover fusion about - say - dakshini scallops with curried lemon butter and crispy fried capers or lamb chops marinated in Indian rum served with mint hollandaise. That, said, there's still plenty for die-hards to enjoy in the shape of tandoori chicken, rogan josh and shahi korma. To finish, East meets West with desserts ranging from kulfi and rasmalai to crème brûlée and steamed chocolate ginger pudding.
