Review on Circle Restaurant at the Birmingham Hippodrome
The Hippodrome is the city's artistic and cultural lynchpin, home to the Birmingham Royal Ballet and the setting for everything from high opera to pantomime. If you fancy a meal before or after the show, or simply want a place to meet, the restaurant on Level 3 of the theatre foyer is just the ticket.
The kitchen uses seasonal and organic produce for a range of menus in the modern British style, along the lines of home-cured gravlax with baby leaves and soda bread, pan-fried suprême of chicken with grapes, fondant potato and white wine sauce, or escalope of pork with black pudding, pea and sage mash followed by desserts such as caramelised rice pudding with apricot compote or lemon cheesecake with blueberries and raspberry sauce.
