Review on Cigala
Cigala is a wonderful Spanish restaurant on the relatively quiet and charming Lamb's Conduit Street, a popular area for small eateries and wine bars in residential Bloomsbury.
Cigala's decor may have been influenced by the late 1990s modern minimalist style, when plain white walls and contrasting dark brown chairs were a la mode, but the food is made with great attention to detail. This is helped of course by Chef Jake Hodges who was inspired by Spanish cuisine from a tender age. His unwavering enthusiasm undoubtedly leads to pleasing results. The affordable tapas option, and the evening tapas set menu, is a cheaper alternative.
The waiting staff, apparelled in black, are knowledgeable and efficient without being patronising or aloof. And when the bill was requested, the damage report was nowhere near as bad as expected. A wonderful restaurant.
