Review on Arbor at The Greenhouse
The Arbor Restaurant is set in the eco friendly boutique Greenhouse Hotel in the large coastal town of Bournemouth in Dorset, just a short walk from the Pavillion Theatre.
The large restaurant at this four star luxury retreat serves modern menus offering a range of culinary delights, showing invention and considerable attention to detail. The menu follows the seasons, products are sourced within a 50 miles radius and the kitchen under the leadership of Andy Hilton is committed to promoting sustainability, ensuring that all ingredients used are of the finest quality and organic when available. As a curtain raiser, try the smoked pork belly, spiced baked beans, Stornaway black pudding fritter before a main course of roast line caught turbot, braised white cabbage, dill potato and dumplings. To close the show there are desserts such as chocolate rice crispy cake, cereal milk ice cream and caramelised banana puree or maybe the rustic apple pie, green apple sorbet with apple jelly will tempt you. Andy also offers a critically acclaimed tasting menu of six courses, including champagne cured mackerel with beetroot hummus, or marmalade brioche with bitter chocolate.
To complement the food there is an innovative wine list compiled exclusively of organic and biodynamic wines, which takes into account the carbon footprint of every bottle. There is an extensive range of local beers, organic spirits and a fresh colourful selection of cocktails.
The hotel has 32 chic guest rooms featuring hand crafted furniture that has been made in the UK using natural and sustainable materials.
