Review on The Bartley Lodge Hotel
Standing at the 'Gateway to the New Forest', this fine listed Georgian building started life as a hunting lodge and now woos the crowds with its beautiful landscaped grounds, outdoor tennis courts and healthy leisure facilities. Inside, it has retained many of its exquisite period features including splendid fireplaces, hand-crafted oak panelling and even a minstrel's gallery.
There are delightful views of the gardens from the windows of their elegant restaurant. The kitchen sends out dishes like poached salmon with tarragon hollandaise on roasted pepper salad, char-grilled chicken breast with lime, ginger and garlic or marinated duck breast with cranberry and orange compote and Cassis sauce. Desserts such as Sicilian lemon pannacotta or iced mandarin and Mocha parfait are in similar vein.
