Review on The Pearson Room
The Pearson Room is the new restaurant affiliated to the Reebok Sports Club located in Canary Wharf. Taking its name from the eminent Canadian Nobel Prize winning Canadian Statesman, Lester B. Pearson, the restaurant has interiors by B3 Designers, the same people behind Bubbledogs and Le Gavroche’s bar. With panoramic views over Canada Square, it offers a lounge area with 1950's inspired furniture together with comfy heritage leather seating, whilst the dining room has wooden tables with classic bentwood chairs set on dark timber flooring. A centralised pewter bar and antique leather upholstered bar chairs, pressed tin ceiling tiles, complemented by raw, galvanised steel and exposed industrial light fittings, creating a space with a reclaimed vintage vibe.
The kitchen focuses on first-class seasonal produce, kicking off with breakfast before moving on to its all day menu that is on offer from midday, in the bar, lounge and dining room. Among the starters look for adobo chicken wings, chilli, coriander, pickled ginger, sesame seeds, grilled spring onions or maybe Colchester rock oysters, shallot vinaigrette. Main courses take in Whitstable crab tagliolini, cherry tomato, chilli, garlic or Dingley Dell pork belly, braised puy lentils, caramelised baby onions, port jus. Desserts are irresistible, choose hot Valrona chocolate fondant with peanut butter ice cream or banana split, plantain, caramelised banana, cachaca and banana crisp.
