Review on Chapmans Seafood Bar & Brasserie
Chapmans Seafood Bar & Brasserie is set in the historic St Dunstan's area, conveniently located for easy access to Canterbury City Centre and just four minutes walk from Canterbury West railway Station. The restaurant is owned by one of the biggest independent buyers of local fresh fish, sourcing from the best day boat catches along the Kent and Sussex coast, from Whitstable round to Brighton. They are proud suppliers to several premier restaurants including Michelin starred Chapter One in Locksbottom Kent and Drake's at the Clockhouse in Ripley, Surrey.
The restaurant has clean lines in colours of white and blue with simply laid polished wood tables and chairs, and a sleek marble bar with bar stools for more informal dining. With six deliveries a week you are ensured of the freshest catch available and the menu changes according to what is available. Their delicious platters are always a popular choice featuring Maldon rock oysters, rope-grown Scottish mussels, lobster and langoustines, all served with zesty, cleansing dressings. The menu also offers a vegetarian option such as goats cheese and red onion tartlet, tomato salad and new potatoes and for carnivores there could be pan-fried pork tenderloin with a wholegrain mustard sauce, crushed new potatoes and wild rocket. Elsewhere on the menu you might see chocolate tarte with white chocolate chips or warm apple and cinnamon pie, Kentish vanilla, raisin and rum ice cream.
