Review on The St David’s Hotel & Spa, The Admiral
One of the big players in Cardiff's regenerated hotel and restaurant scene, this striking contemporary edifice, The St David's Hotel & Spa, stands adjacent to Mermaid Quay and the Millennium Centre. It's an eye-popping structure towering above Cardiff Bay, with a seven-storey glass-backed atrium, subdued lighting and spectacular views from its floor-to-ceiling windows.
The restaurants at the centre of things, and it provides a cool backdrop for modern, brasserie-style food. Native and global ingredients sit happily together in dishes such as St David's fish smoky with a panache of new season vegetables or Fruits de mer - roast langoustine, mussels, turbot, king scallops, oyster tempura, sundried tomato juice and samphire
To start, you could go for Seared foie gras with French toast, fried quail egg, and sauce Hollandaise, while desserts herald things like an assiette of chocolate or golden syrup sponge pudding with mulberry ice cream.
