Review on Brasserie Blanc

This branch of Raymond Blanc's group of flexible eateries (formerly known as Le Petit Blanc) occupies the original ballroom of the old Queen's Hotel and offers distinctive French cuisine with a modern slant and a child-friendly attitude.

Raymond Blanc's fingerprints are obvious throughout the menus, which embrace such things as Maroilles cheese soufflé with pears and walnuts, hot-smoked Loch Duart salmon fishcake with butter sauce, roast duck breast with orange and lime sauce, and desserts such as lemon parfait with cherry coulis - not forgetting the croustillant of ice creams and sorbets.

The wine list favours forward-looking French producers and reflects M. Blanc's interest in the current winemaking renaissance. For details of other branches, visit the Brasserie Blanc website.

    Christmas lunch

Poor food, messy appearance. Very indifferent red wine. Stick toffee was awful. Bread at £3 a rip off.
£46 per head was the worst value ever

    Birthday Supper

We had chateaubriand with sauce béarnaise and a rocket and parmesan salad.my partner, who normally prefers overdone rump steak thoroughly enjoyed although he thinks our vet could have resuscitated the beast if I hadn't eaten it. My fussy daughter had Duck which she thoroughly enjoyed especially as she is a vegetarian at the moment. Service and value for money was good and we had an excellent evening. Will definitely go again, Many thanks to the chef and supporting staff
