Review on Dunne and Crescenzi
Eileen Dunne and husband Stefano Crescenzi set up their admirable 'enoteca italiana' in 1999 close to Trinity College in the cosmopolitan heart of Dublin. It remains the real deal as far as 'soulful' Italian food is concerned and regularly attracts queues. The whole place is totally unpretentious, affordable and packed with happy people enjoying plates of food and superb wines right through the day.
There's nothing fancy about the menu, which is as flexible as they come: here you'll find all kinds of paninis, charcuterie, salads, pasta and one or two hot specials plus a few genuine desserts to round things off.
D&C is renowned for its auspicious, all-Italian wine list, which runs to some 130 bins drawn from choice vineyards across the entire mainland. Don't leave without browsing the shelves loaded with gorgeous foodstuffs and provisions for sale. There is a second branch outside the city at 11 Seafort Avenue, Sandymount.
