Review on Fire Restaurant
Known locally as 'Fire on Dawson', this hip contemporary restaurant is housed in the historic Lord Mayor's residence in the buzzy heart of Dublin city centre. The original Mansion House dates from 1710 and is unique in that it still preserves its original status and function.
The restaurant occupies the old Supper Room and despite its heritage the mood is up-to-the-moment, with a massive wood-fired oven dominating proceedings. Pistachio-crusted goats' cheese bruschetta, crab gratin and tiger prawns with chorizo all receive the treatment, and the char-grill also gets plenty of use for things like skewers of Moroccan spiced lamb. Pasta, salads and some good-looking desserts complete the picture
'Early bird' menus and theatre meals are worth knowing about; Saturday lunches are served to the accompaniment of live jazz and the short wine list is a fairly priced selection with plenty of decent options by the glass.
