Review on TriBeCa
Second cousin to the Canal Bank Cafι in Upper Leeson Street, TriBeCa takes its name from the fashionable district in Manhattan (the word is an abbreviation of 'triangle behind the canal'). Like its sibling, it wows the crowds with its funky mix of eclectic dishes in cool, unfussy surroundings; it's casual, trendy, animated and aims to deliver racy modern food with panache.
Char-grilled burgers, New York club sandwiches, omelettes and tartines provide easy daytime nourishment, but the kitchen's world tour also takes in everything from chicken satay with peanut and coconut sauce or spicy buffalo chicken wings with blue cheese dip to hot-and-sour egg noodles with shrimps, squid and shiitake mushrooms or Indian marinated chicken with broccoli and jasmine rice. Healthy salads also feature strongly. The wine list is as invigorating as the food.
