Review on Dusit
Hidden away in the New Town area of the city, this intimate Thai restaurant is gaining a reputation for its personable atmosphere and genuine cooking. Ignore the net curtains at the windows and soak up the genuine feel of the split-level dining room, with its stone floors, gold Buddhas and silk cushions on low couches.
The kitchen mixes classic and familiar satays, curries, stir-fries and exemplary pad Thai with more innovative ideas such as song pi nong (a duo of crispy tempura prawns alongside similar creatures wrapped in filo pastry), yum so boran (a refreshing combination of bittersweet pomelo segments with a sauce of tamarind, lime and coconut cream) or slices of char-grilled duck with strips of fresh mango and prawns. To finish, a dish of exotic fruits doused in a sauce of warm palm sugar and coconut milk is worth a go.
